They came, they conquered and they wrote.” South African artist and activist Miriam Makeba, also known as Mama Africa, speaks on how history has always been rewritten by imperialists. During her career, she became one of the most influential figures in the fight against the apartheid regime in South Africa. The government went as far as exiling her and banning all her records to be played in the country. All the while, she never gave into Eurocentric standards and instead was able to perform across the globe with hits in her native languages Xhosa and Zulu. Today would’ve been her 93rd birthday 💫✨🇿🇦

Math, science, art, philosophy, Engineering, and every other concept you can think of is housed within this matrix of circles and lines. What I think is really cool about this is we is humans are very good at categorizing things and giving things names and we put language to these different avenues of study. But it’s important to remember that there’s an over all a functional movement that converges all of these concepts into one. Some people call this singularity (I think of this as the yin). We’re seeing it right now with AI, quantum computing, native peoples joining forces (we were all native, at one point, and disenfranchised at another point and that’s how we are one we all share this same wound through our histories if they weren’t wiped by the “victors”) and in the future, there will be an expansion, a dispersion and recognition of new concepts fields of study and growth. For those that don’t recognize these concepts it’s very simple. It’s important to move with hope and don’t hold your breath for too long. We need you here. I need you here.
