Blackdown Tableland National Park! This gorgeous National Park boasts amazing camping, exquisite hiking and wonderful wild swimming! It's definitely one of my favourite spots on the trip so far! Gorgeous gorges taller than imaginable, waterfalls flowing into deep pools, beautiful cliffs and sacred cave paintings. It's definitely not a place I'll ever forget! It's well worth the trip, especially if you can score a campsite. The famous ROCK POOLS at Blackdown Tableland National Park Gudda Gumoo (Rainbow Falls) and the rockpools are two of the biggest highlights. The good news is, both are located on the same walking track! 📍Follow the path down to the Rainbow Waterfall but when you get to the steps take the path on the right.

After a short 300km drive from Tannum, and a 45 minute hike through a National Park, you’ll end up here. Definitely worth the effort! You pass Rainbow Falls (a much larger waterfall with a bigger body of water) shortly before you get to this spot. Rock pools similar to these can be found in various locations throughout the National Park. There is a steep, winding road on the drive up Blackdown Tablelands. This is followed by dirt corrugated roads. The campground is about 8km along, and the carpark for Rainbow Falls trail is further 8km. It’s best to take a 4x4, but smaller 2wds and vans made the trip. The road is rough. Camper trailers would be okay, caravans would be pushing it. The campground is basic but perfect if you want ‘off the grid’ camping. There are toilets tho! And across from the campground are smaller rock pools where you can find freshwater turtles.
