Look at this C-17 Globemaster of the 164th Airlift Wing fly not only low and like a fighter jet, but has the moves like Elvis on one of the best passes we have ever seen. The first pass is the best ever. There are two C-17 Globemaster III temporarily operating out of RAF Mildenhall. The two C-17s are from the 164th Airlift Wing, a unit of the Tennessee Air National Guard, stationed at Memphis Air National Guard Base, Tennessee. There is a red tail flash with 'Memphis' written on the tail. The squadron that flew the C-17s were of the 155th Airlift Squadron. Elvis Presley at the age of 13 moved to Memphis and this is the very place where he started his music career and his final resting place. With the callsign Elvis, you knew this was going to be special. The two aircraft executed three passes each. The UK is divided into 20 separate low flying areas, (LFA) and this area in Cumbria is number 17, so this becomes LFA17. The Mach Loop in LFA7. Of the 20 Low Flying Areas, there are also areas known as Tactical Training Areas (TTAs). These are in: A Small area of mid Wales, part of northern Scotland and the borders area of southern Scotland and a small part of northern England. TTAs are activated at specific times throughout each day and when a TTA is active, fixed wing aircraft can fly as low as 100 feet AGL. This is not the case with routine low flying training, which is conducted across the UK on a daily basis. Outside the published TTA times the airspace is classed as a normal low flying area where fixed wing aircraft routinely fly at a minimum height of 250 feet AGL and helicopters are authorised down to ground level. Britain's most isolated Roman fort. Hardknott fort overlooks Hardknott Pass. It dominates the Esk Valley in the heart of the Lake District. Built during the reign of Emperor Hadrian in the early 2nd century, it was one of a string of forts the Romans built through the centre of the Lake District. Ambleside to its east, Ravenglass to its west on the Cumbrian coast.
