#DesigningDigital ⚙️ Code isn’t just a tool for @the.poet.engineer (Kat) — it’s an artistic medium for expression and thinking. The digital artist and creative technologist engineers systems designed for exploration, play and discovery — for “everyone who’s slightly curious about what the future holds,” she says. Kat discovered creative coding at her first job as an engineer, where she began dabbling with software that could be used to make art. Her projects virtually collapse the distance between intention and action, including hand-tracking applications that let users interact with digital worlds — playing instruments, summoning fire, and more. “It’s been said that any technology, when sufficiently advanced, looks almost like magic,” says Kat. “I wanted to take that literally and make an interface where you don’t feel the boundary between your body and the computer anymore.” Lately, she’s been turning her attention to web projects — including a UI experiment that transforms her personal notes into a living digital garden you can tend to. 🌱 Original music by @the.poet.engineer

Transformers use the attention mechanism to effectively take in input sequences, focusing on the significance of each token for a specific task. This parallel processing speeds up and improves efficiency, allowing them to handle enormous datasets and scale up to train massive models such as GPT or BERT. You may have heard about the transformer architecture: it resulted in momentous improvements in large language models (LLMs) and thus helped enable systems like ChatGPT.
