How to do face pulls There’s two ways to do face pulls depending on what you’re trying to target, the first version is more rear delt dominant and other is more traps dominant Follow me for fitness tips & workouts | program link in bio

Face Pulls - the most underrated exercise almost every guy gets wrong. Here’s how to fix it 👇🏻 1️⃣ Anchor HIGH Most people set the rope or band too low (chest or chin level). That turns the movement into a sloppy row, which overloads the traps and misses the point. 👉🏻 When you anchor HIGH (above your head), you pull down and back into external rotation - the exact motion your shoulders are starving for. That’s how you hit the rear delts + rotator cuff properly. 2️⃣ Underhand Grip (Thumbs Back) An overhand grip puts your shoulders into internal rotation. Add load + repetition to that, and you’re basically wearing out your joints. 👉🏻 Flip it underhand, drive thumbs back. Now you’re externally rotating with every rep - stronger shoulders, healthier joints, better posture. 3️⃣ Why the Rope is Too Short This is the part nobody tells you. Most gyms use standard-length ropes. Problem? They’re too short for a proper face pull. 👉🏻 A short rope limits how far out you can pull, which kills external rotation. You end up stuck in a half-row, half-shrug - not the real thing. ✅ Solution: double up two ropes, or use a longer attachment if your gym has it. This extra length lets you spread your hands wide, rotate properly, and actually train the rotator cuff. 4️⃣ Hands Beat Elbows Most guys lead with elbows → turns into another back row. 👉🏻 The cue: your hands should “win the race” to the back. When hands beat elbows, the rotator cuff and rear delts take the load - exactly what we want. 5️⃣ Squeeze, Don’t Lean Leaning back or jerking the weight is ego lifting. Your lower back is helping instead of your shoulders. 👉🏻 Stand tall, brace your core, pull to your face, squeeze your shoulder blades together. Every rep should feel clean, controlled, and targeted. 🔥 Do 2–3 sets at the END of every workout. This isn’t a “power move,” it’s an insurance policy for your shoulders, posture, and long-term lifting.

Rear Delt Cable Face Pull - Quick Tips & Key Points ✅Grip: Start with thumbs pointing down. As you pull, your thumbs should rotate to face your head, with palms mostly facing each other and slightly downward. This grip reduces wrist strain. ✅Elbow Position: Keep your elbows in line with your shoulders. Don’t let them drop-this helps fully activate the rear delts. ✅ Forearm Vertical & Pull Toward Forehead: Keep your forearms close to vertical and aim the rope toward your forehead-not your chin—to better isolate the rear delts. ✅ Outward Arm Movement: As you pull the rope toward your face, also spread your hands outward. It‘s a combined motion -pulling back and out-to maximally engage the rear delts. #arms #homeworkout #workoutathome #gymmotivation #gymgirl #fyp #gymtips #shoulders #shoulderworkouts #upperbodyworkout #homeworkout #dumbbellworkout #strengthtraining #facepulls #back

Not confident in your face-pulls? I gotchu 🫶 This exercise is amazing for improving shoulder & rotator cuff health. But it’s also one that’s not as intuitive. Here are my best form cues to help optimise your movement: ⭐️ Grip the rope with a reverse grip - ends of the rope should face you as you pull. ⭐️ Set the cable height above your head height so you are pulling from a high position rather than low. ⭐️ Think of pulling to your forehead and outwards from your ears. ⭐️ Make sure your shoulders are depressed away from your ears and externallly rotated. ⭐️ Think of pulling into a double bicep flexed pose! 💪💪 Note: there are more ways than one to perform this exercise, but these are some tips to help better target your posterior delts and strengthen your shoulders. #gymtips #facepull #shoulderworkout #pullday #gymmotivation #exercisetips #formtips #strongshoulders
