13 finished blocks for my Denim&Daisies version of Common Bride which means I only need 12 more! Yay me! I fell in love with the Common Bride quilt pattern years ago when it was released. I gave it a shot but gave up in frustration. Over the years I built up my quilting tool box of skills and decided to give it another go. I’m so glad I did. Here is a little video of my quilt I made for Michelle (@frombolttobeauty ) new book, Not-Your-Typical Jelly Roll Quilts in front of my favorite fig tree. . I sewed up a baby-size version of her pattern Five-Star Experience using one block. I used fabric scraps instead of a jelly roll. After I finished the block, I added some borders to give the block a little breathing room (and ensure the binding did not clip off the star points). The finished quilt measures around 40" square, which meant I could use a single width of fabric for the backing—always a win in my book (because I dislike piecing my backings). . The Chongqing Art Museum, also known as the Chongqing Guotai Arts Center, is located in the Jiefangbei area of Chongqing’s central business district. I love how the square shape stands out with a little puff of unquilted area. I also love the texture. I added the circles for a little bling. They are challenging for me even with a ruler. It’s always important to me that the fabrics and pattern shine.
