🤌Try this creamy, cheesy gratin—it’s absolutely divine! Today, I’m sharing a video recipe from my archive for Potato Gratin Dauphinois that caused quite a stir because I added cheese 😱😅I know cheese isn’t traditional in Gratin Dauphinois, and I mentioned that in the video, but this version got some critique. Happily, it received mostly positive comments! So many people wrote to thank me, saying they were thrilled with the recipe and loved the result. This gratin is incredibly tender, delicious, and a must-try! Ingredients (serves 4): • Potatoes: 1 kg (2.2 lbs) • Whole milk: 350 ml (1.5 cups) • Heavy cream: 150 ml (2/3 cup) • Nutmeg: 1/3 tsp (or to taste) • Salt and pepper: to taste • Fresh thyme: 2-3 sprigs • Garlic: 3-4 cloves, unpeeled • Butter: for greasing the dish • Hard cheese (e.g., Parmesan): 100 g (1 cup grated) • Gruyère cheese: 150 g (1.5 cups grated) optional, not in the classic recipe, but you’ll love it Instructions: 1) In a saucepan, combine milk, cream, garlic, nutmeg, and thyme. Heat gently until simmering. 2) Peel and thinly slice potatoes (a mandoline helps). Add to the warm milk mixture. 3) Simmer for 6-7 minutes, stirring gently. 4) Grease a baking dish with butter. Layer the potatoes, sprinkling a little hard cheese between layers. 5) Repeat until all potatoes are used, then top with remaining hard cheese and Gruyère. 6) Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly. In this recipe I used cinnamon because my husband doesn’t really like the taste of nutmeg 🙅♂️ #gratin #potatogratin #reelsfood #reelsrecipe #recipesharing #dinnerrecipe #easyrecipeideas #easyrecipeideas #reelsfoodie #potatos #foodvideogram #foodbloggersofinstagram

Welcome to Day 5 of the Holiday Sides Series. If you need a last-minute holiday side dish, these creamy Potatoes Au Gratin will be the star of the show. It’s been a staple for us for the last few years, and is one of my favorite sides. Ingredients: 3 lbs Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, thinly sliced in rounds 2 tbsp butter 1 small onion, finely chopped 6 cloves of garlic, minced 2 tbsp all-purpose flour 1 cup whole milk 1/2 cup heavy cream 1 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp dried thyme 1/4 tsp ground black pepper 2 cups shredded cheese, I used a mix of Gruyère and sharp cheddar cheese (do not use pre-shredded, it’s dusted with cellulose and doesn’t melt as well), divided 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided chopped parsley or thyme for garnish (optional) Instructions: 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. 2. Heat the butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat and add the onions and cook until soft and translucent, 5-6 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute. Add the flour and stir to combine. Cook for a minute or two. Add the milk and cream, stirring continually to prevent clumping. Slowly bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer until slightly thickened. Season with salt, pepper and thyme. 3. Remove from heat and gradually stir in the Gruyère, white cheddar, and Parmesan, reserving some for topping. Stir until smooth. 4. Lay out thinly sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish (I used 9 inch round one but make sure it’s deep dish, otherwise it will bubble over too much when baking) and pour the sauce evenly over the top, making sure all slices are coated. 5. Cover with foil, and bake for 60–70 minutes (time can vary depending on how thickly the potatoes are sliced). Place another baking sheet or foil beneath the pan to catch any drips. 6. Remove foil, sprinkle the rest of cheese and bake for 20-30 more minutes until golden and fork-tender. For extra color, broil at the end for a few minutes. 7. Let rest 10–15 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with some chopped parsley or fresh thyme for garnish if desired.

Roasted Garlic Potato Gratin...when it comes to side dishes, very few compare to this one! It is creamy, cheesy and the bits of crispy potato skins are what dreams are made of. I used my new @nutribullet Ultra to make the sauce, and I am very impressed. It took only a few seconds to create the smoothest most luscious cream! A couple of my favorite features are that it is so quiet and the blades got upgraded so they last longer. Ingredients: 3 lb potatoes (total of about 9-12 yukon golds). 1 large garlic head. 1 cup whole milk. 1/4 cup heavy cream. 6 oz cream cheese. 1/4 tsp nutmeg. 1/4 tsp smoked paprika. 1/2 tsp dried parsley. 1/2 tsp onion powder. 2 cups grated gruyere. 1/2 cup grated parmigiano reggiano (plus more for topping). 1 tsp butter. Chives to taste. Salt and pepper to taste. Directions: 1. Cut the top off the garlic, drizzle some olive oil. Wrap in foil and roast at 375F for 1 hr. 2. Blend together the milk, roasted garlic, cream cheese, spices, 1/4 cup gruyere, parmigiano and cream. 3. Slice potatoes pretty thinly but not paper thin so they hold their shape. 4. Butter a baking dish and layer the potatoes as shown in the video. 5. Drizzle the cream over them and add the cheese. 6. Bake covered in foil at 400F for 45 min (in the middle rack). 7. Remove foil bake uncovered for 15-20 more minutes. 8. Top with chives, black pepper and parm. #ad #nbUltra #nbHoliday2023 #nbPartner #potatogratin #potatorecipes #sidedishes

Detailed Recipe ⬇️ Follow for more easy recipes! Omg these miniature Potatoes Au Gratin are so good. Perfect side for the holidays! And also perfect to make when it’s not even the holidays! 😄 My family loved it! 🤤 Ingredients: - 2.5 pounds Potatoes - 3/4 cup heavy cream - 2 tbsp. butter - 2 cloves garlic, minced - 1 tsp. onion powder - 1/4 tsp. nutmeg - 1 bay leaf - 1 large sprig of thyme - 1/2 tsp. salt, plus more to taste - Black pepper to taste - 4 slices cheddar, Gruyere or Gouda cut into squares - 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or Gruyere Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add the butter to a saucepan and melt. Add in the garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Dip a brush into the melted butter and butter the muffin tin. 2. To the melted butter, add in the cream, 1/2 teaspoon salt, thyme, bay leaf, nutmeg, onion powder, and black pepper. Leave on lowest heat for five minutes then remove from heat and cover. 3. Peel the potatoes and use a mandolin to slice the potatoes. Salt and pepper the potato slices well. 4. Place potato slices into the muffin tin until they go halfway up. Add a teaspoon of the cream mixture to the potatoes, then add a slice of cheese, followed by more potatoes and ending with another teaspoon of cream. Stack the potatoes above the rim of the muffin tin. They will sink a bit once baked. Cover with foil and bake for 40-45 minutes or until potatoes are cooked through. 5. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the grated cheese. Return to the oven and bake uncovered for 12-14 minutes or until golden. Top with fresh thyme and enjoy! Notes: 1. I took mine out of the muffin tin at the end and put them in a baking sheet and broiled for a few minutes to get them a bit more crunchy on the outside. 2. I used Gruyere and Gouda cheese but I think cheddar would also be soooo good!
