HYROX doubles strategy per station Doubles is not about splitting everything evenly. It’s about keeping power output high while managing fatigue so both athletes can still run well. Here’s a simple strategy that works across most teams. Ski Erg Switch every 30 seconds. Short efforts keep power high and prevent early fatigue. Sled Push Switch every half lap. This keeps the effort explosive instead of grinding. Sled Pull Switch every half lap as well. Short pulls keep rhythm and prevent arm fatigue. Burpee Broad Jumps Do 5 to 7 jumps each. This keeps heart rate spikes controlled. Rower Switch every 30 to 45 seconds. Higher power output with less fatigue buildup. Farmers Carries Each athlete does one full lap. Fewer transitions means smoother movement. Lunges Plan for about 4 total switches. Too many switches slows the station down. Wall Balls Go until your reps start slowing down, then switch. Maintain speed and avoid hitting failure. Doubles success comes down to one thing: Maintain the highest average output across the entire station. Shorter efforts. Better pacing. Smarter switches. Thinking about lining up for your first Hyrox doubles race? 🏁🏃 Honestly, it’s one of the best ways to experience the event because everything is shared. The highs, the hurt, the laughs, and of course the finish line moment. Here are a few things that might help ⬇️ 1. Let the faster runner finish (and maybe also start) the station. This gives the slower runner a chance to recover as much as possible before heading back into the run. 2. Have a plan. Go in with a strategy so you’re not making decisions under fatigue. 3. Be ready to adapt. Things never go 100% to plan. Communicate often, encourage each other, and be flexible. 4. Play to your strengths. You don’t have to split the stations 50/50. Work out who’s stronger where, and lean into that. 5. Move with urgency. It’s easy to lose time in the little things like slow rower transitions, messy sandbag passes, clunky sled handovers. Nail those moments and thank yourselves later. At the end of the day, doubles is all about teamwork, communication, and grit.
