happy monday 🤍 it took me a minute to get this video edited this morning, but we’re cutting soap and that’s always a good way to start the week. Today’s cut is our rose geranium + pink grapefruit bar — and little heads up… soon we’ll be changing the name to just grapefruit + geranium 🍊🌿 same dreamy bar, same fresh citrus-floral scent… just a simpler name. I’ve got a full day of soap making ahead and lots of batches to pour. hope you have the best start to your week! ✨ . . . #Soapmaking #naturalskincare #handmadesoap #artisansoap #mompreneur

it’s really so simple + there are so many things you can add or take away. I plug all my ingredients into the brambleberry’s soap calc (just Google it, it’s free) and it gives me everything I need to fit into my molds. How to make a simple 3 ingredient tallow bar: (Makes 1 whole bar) 46.20 oz tallow 6.14oz lye 13.74oz water or liquid of choice How to make the Oatmeal and chamomile tea bar: (1bar) 36.21 oz tallow 2.13oz castor oil (helps with lather) 4.26 oz coconut oil (this is GREAT to add for a bubbly lather) 20g colloidal oatmeal 5.81oz lye 12.99 oz chamomile tea Measure and melt down base (tallow, coconut oil etc). Once melted, mix your lye into liquid of choice and mix well (wear your protection). Let your oil base and lye solution both come down to 110-115 degrees Fahrenheit. Pour lye solution into tallow solution and mix with an immersion blender. This is when you’ll add your castor oil or oil of choice and any clays, powders, and or scents. Mix until it reaches a trace and pour into mold. Let this sit overnight (up to 24 hours but tallow hardens fast so usually the next morning is fine) to harden and then cut. Let the bars cure for 4-6 weeks for the full saponification to occur and then ENJOY 🤎 #tallow #beeftallow #homemade #tallowsoap #homemadesoap #homesteadingmama #homesteader

Most soap makers create beautiful soap tops… Meanwhile I’m over here fighting gravity. 😂 Just scooping soap and piling it up. Real life soap making… or battling?

I Made My Own Soap From Scratch (and I’m Never Buying It Again)🧼 I’ve been on a mission to recreate the everyday products I use…but with ingredients I actually trust. Soap was first on the list, and honestly? It was way easier than I expected. Here’s the full recipe so you can make it at home: What you’ll need: - 623g coconut oil -226g filtered water -80g lye (sodium hydroxide) -Eye protection + gloves (the lye is corrosive and will burn skin on contact) -Oils (I used: lemongrass, rosemary, lavender, sweet orange, apricot, vitamin E, Haitian castor oil, poppy seeds, bee pollen) How to make it: -Melt your coconut oil and set aside. In a stainless steel container, slowly mix your lye into the filtered water, never the other way around. It will get very hot immediately, which is totally normal. This is an exothermic reaction. Let it cool slightly, then combine it with your melted coconut oil. -Stir with a wooden spoon until you see the mixture start to get cloudy…that’s saponification beginning. Then use a hand blender for about 10 minutes until the mixture thickens to “trace,” which looks like a light pudding or liquid soap consistency. Be patient, it takes a while but it will get there. -Pour into molds, add your mix-ins, swirl with a toothpick, and label each one so you remember what’s in them. -Leave overnight to set, then remove from molds. Important: You must let the bars cure for 4-6 weeks before using them. This gives the saponification reaction time to fully complete and ensures there’s no active lye left in the bar. It also lets the water evaporate so your bars come out hard and long-lasting. After 4 weeks, test them out and never buy soap again.

Let’s make soap the easy, low-stress way! This was such a fun, creative project to do at home, and next time I’m definitely getting my daughter involved! Here’s how I made it: - I used a soap base from Michaels and melted it in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring between each round. - Once fully melted, you can customize it with ingredients like coconut oil, sweet almond oil, honey, castor oil, or olive oil. (Just 1 tbsp of oil per 1 cup of melted base.) - You can also add dry ingredients like oat flour or dried flowers. (1 tsp per cup of melted base.) - Pour into molds I let it harden overnight, and then cure for a few weeks. I found the suds are so much better with time! ⭐️ Tips: - Less is more when adding extras. Keep it simple and your bars will turn out beautifully. - Thrift mini loaf pans for your soap molds. Let me know if you try it🤍 #MakeItWithMichaels @michaelsstores
