When can you add more range? ONLY WHEN YOU EARN IT FIRST. Most skip steps… They don’t control the basic split squat but they chase depth, load, and ego. Andy that’s how you build compensation and injuries. A plate under the front foot isn’t an “advanced trick” because it looks cool on YouTube. It’s and earned progression. First you OWN your basics before you try to own the next level. 🧠 Train the Mind | 💪 Build the Body | ⚡ Lead the Life #BulgarianSplitSquat #LegTraining #StrengthTraining #MobilityMatters

Split squat or front foot elevated split squat..which are you choosing? The real question: Are you actually using the extra range? Elevating the front foot gives you the opportunity for more. More knee travel, more hip flexion, more stretch under load, more stimulus. But opportunity doesn’t equal outcome. If your depth stays the same, if your control isn’t there, if you’re cutting the range short, then it’s just a more complicated setup, not a better exercise. #SYNQ #TrainWithPurposeLiveInAlignment

Heel elevated squats are both a regression and a progression w/ @fitguy_ant Regression → makes the squat more accessible by reducing ankle mobility demands. Progression → increases quad loading and time under tension. Easier to perform. Harder on the quads. Both can be true. 💡 #squatmechanics #quadtraining #movementmatters #coachingscience

Most people focus on bilateral strength like squats and deadlifts. But real performance also requires unilateral control. Step-ups and lunges build strength, balance, and stability at the same #legtraining #unilateraltraining #functionalstrength #strengthcoach #trainwithpurpose

In a rear foot elevated split squat, the front leg should do the work. The back leg is there to help with balance and stability, not to push you up. If you actively drive through the back foot, you reduce the load on the front leg and change the stimulus. This often turns the movement into a poorly loaded split squat rather than a true single-leg strength exercise. A simple check: If you can lift your back foot slightly without losing the rep, the load is where it should be. #gym #fitness #strengthtraining #healthandfitness

There’s a difference between feeling strong and actually getting stronger. Full range squats build more muscle, better joint health, and strength that transfers outside the gym. Partial reps can be useful, but only when there’s a clear purpose behind them. If partial reps are being used just to lift more weight or avoid depth, they’re limiting your progress. If you can’t squat to depth, the answer isn’t to cut the rep short - it’s to adjust the load🤝 #SYNQ #TrainWithPurposeLiveInAlignment

✅ Close-to-Wide Squat Walkins Modifying the close to wide squat to inchworm walkouts—feet at 1.2-1.5x shoulder width—by walking hands back to feet after the walkout, standing into another close to wide squat, then repeating creates a higher-volume dynamic circuit. This loops the wide-stance squat-fold-plank-walk-back-squat cycle (e.g., 5-8 reps per round), boosting time under tension for glutes, inner thighs, shoulders, core, and posterior chain while grooving deeper squat depth and hip hinge under fatigue. Benefits include elevated heart rate, enhanced scapular stability from sustained plank holds, and greater hamstring/glute/adductor stretch-release cycles to improve flexibility without static holds. Risks rise with poor form: watch for lumbar rounding in folds (cue hip hinge), knee caving in wide stance (toes out 15-30°), or shoulder shrugging in planks (pack scapulae); limit to 3-4 rounds of 4-6 cycles if new, scaling from standard inchworm. Pair with controlled reps to avoid overuse. #strengthandmobility #coachglend #fitnesscoach #fitnessmotivation #personalfitnesstrainer

Split Squat Holds on the GotaBlock 💪🏽 This variation builds true lower-body strength by emphasizing ankle mobility, knee control, and hip stability. Elevating the heel on the GotaBlock allows for better range of motion, improved quad activation, and stronger positions under load. Holding the bottom position reinforces joint integrity, balance, and control-key components for athletic performance, injury resilience, and powerful movement. Single-Leg RDLs — one of the most underrated exercises for building strong, athletic legs 🔥 Here’s why you should be doing them: 1️⃣ Improves balance & stability Since you’re standing on one leg, your body is forced to engage stabilizer muscles and improve coordination. 2️⃣ Builds stronger glutes & hamstrings This move directly targets your posterior chain, helping you grow rounder glutes and stronger hamstrings. 3️⃣ Fixes muscle imbalances Training one leg at a time helps correct strength differences between left and right. 4️⃣ Protects your lower back A stronger posterior chain reduces pressure on your lower back and improves lifting form. 5️⃣ Boosts athletic performance Better balance + stronger hips = faster running, jumping, and overall performance. Pro tip: Go slow, keep your hips square, and feel the stretch in your hamstrings. #singlelegrdl#singlelegstrength#strenghtandconditioning#running#hamstringstrength

‼️As athletes, your purpose for strength training is to improve physical qualities in your body (like bigger muscles and more efficient nervous system), so that those physical qualities will in turn improve your sport performance (more force applied during sprints and jumps). While there are many variations of squats, each with unique pros and cons, the variation itself does not matter as much as the adaptations (like muscle growth, intramuscular coordination, motor unit recruitment to name a few) that are caused as a result of the squat. One could argue that based on the muscles used in a given squat variation and the muscles used in a sport, squat variations exist on a sport specific spectrum. And while there is some truth to that, and intelligent coaches will be thoughtful of how they program squat variations in each training phase, no squat is as sports specific as playing the sport itself. ‼️If you are an athlete who wants to improve sports performance through strength and conditioning, follow me @prashishim for more! 💪 #strengthandconditioning #prashishim #squatvariations #liftingforathletes
