I’m very much ok with being alone but if I open up to you that’s saying a lot because I rarely feel comfortable enough around just anybody to do that. #picky #qualityoverquantity #smallcircle #mindset #relateable

TIPS FOR HOW TO DEAL ⬇️⬇️⬇️ • Why do many toddlers wake up and seemingly hate ALL THE FOOD? It’s a biologic protective mechanism 👊 The theory is that once toddlers between 12-24 months become more mobile and independent, they would also be more willing to wander off and eat that poisonous mushroom in the forest if they weren’t cautious about new foods. Scientists theorize that food neophobia, or fear of new foods, in toddlerhood is PROTECTIVE. It’s meant to keep them from eating something that could be dangerous. • And…in today’s world, it also means that they’re likely to reject all the things they used to love. It can feel so demoralizing, especially if your baby loved seemingly everything before. • How can you deal? 1. STAY THE COURSE and try to not get frustrated. Remember, this is EXPECTED. Keep offering a variety of food instead of catering to only what they seem to like right now. Ensure that there’s always a familiar food on the plate, but you don’t have to be a short order cook. In fact, they’ll get more particular if you only serve them a select few foods. • 2. Avoid the “airplane,” “one polite bite,” force-feeding, bribing, begging etc. You provide the food, they decide to eat it - or not. When we force our kids to eat, we teach them that we know more about their body than they do and to stop listening to their own internal cues. We WANT kids to know how much to eat and what tastes/feels good on their bodies right now, and that might mean that they’re not eating all the things at the moment. {Psst - maybe they’re not eating that food because it doesn’t feel good in their mouth or inside their tummy.} • 3. Get playful. Kids love novelty and something a little different. Wear a hat to dinner or serve their soup in a little teacup. It’s amazing how much better they do when there’s something funny or unexpected at the table. • We have a course with 12 feeding therapy techniques that Judy uses with her picky clients every day! In my head, I’m low maintenance 😭. Me: I’m not high maintenance. Also me: ‘Is that water filtered?’, ‘Is that chocolate 70%?’, ‘Is it low carb or slow releasing?’, ‘Is the shampoo sulphite-free?’, ‘Are the products suitable for sensitive skin?’.
