Here is a tutorial for my favorite FPP method with NO PAPER TEARING! ✨ The best parts? You can reuse your paper templates AND sew with a regular stitch length. You’ll use a lot less paper and can seam rip mistakes more easily (fighting with tiny stitches was the worst!). It’s very similar to traditional foundation paper piecing and with just a few modifications, you can completely eliminate stitching through paper. I hope this makes your next FPP project easier! We are all new at some point. We all start somewhere. If I were starting my quilting journey over again these are the 5 things I would make sure to do- 1- Invest in Quality Tools: A rotary cutter, self-healing cutting mat, and a clear acrylic ruler make accurate cutting so much easier—and accuracy is key in quilting. 2. Consistently use ¼” seam allowance, it keeps your blocks the right size. I use a 1/4” presser foot and it makes a huge difference. 3. Press, Don’t Iron: Pressing (lifting and setting the iron down) helps keep your blocks crisp and flat, while ironing (sliding the iron) can stretch or warp your fabric. 4. Mistakes part of the process: we all unpick seams. Don’t stress over perfection—each quilt is a learning experience. 5. Slow down & enjoy the process: It’s not just about the finished quilt. We’ve shared this trick to joining binding before, but it’s so good that we wanted to show you again! This is our favorite method for continuous binding, because it works perfectly every time, no matter what width you’re using. … 1. Cut a small piece of binding off one end. 2. Unfold that piece and use the width as a measuring guide between the two strips 3. Create the overlap by trimming each binding end on opposite sides of the guide. 4. Pin ends together on a 90 degree angle. This step can be a little tricky, so make sure to be careful here. 5. Sew ends together from corner to corner. 6. MOST IMPORTANT: check that the binding lays flat! Occasionally you’ll get twisted up, in which case it’s easy to rip it out and redo at this point. 7.
