Face-Pulls I think no one can argue the value of this exercise for rotator cuff strengthening and overall shoulder health. I would 100% start with cables and bands to understand the movement. Then, the ring face-pull it’s an excellent variation. 👇Here are the steps to perform the movement: ✅ Find the right inclination for your level ✅ Scapulas depressed & arms straight ✅ Initiate the movement with a row ✅ Retract / adduct the scapulas as you row ✅ Bring the palms back & elbows forward (ER) ✅ Hold the top position for 1-3 seconds ✅ Return in the same way and extend the arms 👇 Here are some additional points - The shoulder external rotation (ER) happens simultaneously with the rowing movement. In this clip I broke it down to better understand the mechanics, but ideally it’s a continuous smooth pattern. - Body remains “tight” and straight. Small thoracic extension is ok, but try to not exaggerate this. - Elbow angle at the top (elbow flexion) should be around 90 degrees. A little more, a little less it’s totally ok. Same with the shoulder angle (shoulder horizontal adbduction) - 2-3 sets done 2-3x per week for 8-15 reps it’s a good place to start. Adjust as needed based on goals and limitations. That’s it!
