The @hyroxworld competitors are some high-caliber athletes, but so many who have DECENT row form are still making this massive mistake. And this mistake goes far beyond Hyrox. I just needed something click-baity;) The mistake is leaning back as you drive your legs. There are many degrees to this, and while im exaggerating a bit in this video, it isnt uncommon for it to be that extreme of an early lay back… but ANY degree of early lean back means you are getting NO POWER from the hip swing. You gotta lay back only AFTER the legs are fully straightened to get the most out of the hip swing. To practice this, try the Reverse Pick Drill. Classic drill for rowing athletes - essentially breaking the stroke down to “legs first”, then adding in the torso, then adding in the arms! Even a few strokes at each point can help you FEEL the difference! Give it a shot! Happy rowing! 🚣 🤙 Coach Austin 🤘 . . . #row #rower #rowing #rowingmachine #erg #hyrox #rowingmotivation #rowingrelated #rowingworkout #rowingform

Row Erg Technique 🙌 With how big Hyrox is becoming, I thought I better do a video to break down the rower. Personally, this is my favourite erg but it can be made a lot harder if you aren’t doing good form. So let’s get into it: 1️⃣The Stroke - Think legs, body, arms, then arms, body legs. - Your chest and arms shouldn’t move before your legs are fully extended. - On the reverse, your arms should be fully extended before your knees bend. - Most of the power comes from the legs so think of this movement as a push rather than a pull. - Keep your chest tall at the catch, try not to let your back round too much. 2️⃣Handle Height - Aim for your sternum or your bra strap each stroke. 3️⃣Chain - When coming into the catch (on the way back) try to keep your chain as still as possible & avoid “slapping” the chain. - Focus on keeping the chain inside the box it comes out of without touching the top or bottom. If you’re looking to start integrating running & conditioning into your current gym routine, my Hybrid program is perfect for you with 2 runs, 3 strength and 1 conditioning day each week. Row-erg 2:30-1:15/500m, damper setting 4. 🚀 A longer range maximizes displacement, work per stroke, and force production. 💨 Acceleration from catch to pull determines output rather than stroke rate. 🎯 Peak hip extension optimizes torque and momentum transfer for peak power output. 🔧 A lower damper setting balances drag, minimizing fatigue while enabling optimal force and speed. #rowerg #concept2 #rowing #hyrox

Are you making these rowing mistakes? 🚨 Don’t let poor technique slow you down in Hyrox! Here’s a quick breakdown of the most common rowing mistakes—and how to fix them: The Catch ❌ Incorrect Form: Heels lifting off the platform, back rounding, and shoulders hunched. ✅ Correct Form: Full foot on the platform, flat back, open chest, and relaxed shoulders. The Drive ❌ Incorrect Form: Legs fully straight while leaning over the knees. ✅ Correct Form: Legs extended with an upright body position. The Finish ❌ Incorrect Form: Leaning too far back, elbows flared, and pulling the handle to your collarbone. ✅ Correct Form: Slight lean back with elbows tucked and pulling the handle to the sternum. Mastering these key positions will make a huge difference in your Hyrox performance! • • • • • #rowing #rowingmachine #hyrox #hyroxtraininig #conditioning #cardio #technique #exerciseform #functionaltraining #onlinecoaching #personaltraining #cardiomachine

Think speeding up your rower strokes = faster pace? Not quite. ❌ Fast strokes, low power → wasted energy, no real speed. ✅ Controlled strokes, high power → efficient, sustainable pace and stronger 500m splits. The secret? Power over panic. Smooth, consistent strokes will always beat frantic speed. 👉 What stroke rate do you hold during WODs? 👇 #crossfit #rowing #concept2 #conditioning #wod #fitness #endurance #technique

Rowing IS NOT A PULL MOTION! At least, on the rowing machine it isn’t! The perception of rowing being “a pull” is what is hindering so many from achieving thier true potential on the rower! When we “pull” each stroke, we lean back early and don’t allow ourselves to drive maximum force and acceleration into the stroke! Every rowing stroke starts with a PUSH, not a pull… The idea is to PUSH your legs down first, then swing your body back, THEN you can “pull” your arms in! But this pull comes only at the very end! One of the most challenging things about the leg push is keeping your body leaned FORWARD as you push back. Do your best to NOT let your body lean back until the legs have been fully pushed down! This will allow you to accelerate into a strong swing through your hips - which is what actually generates the PEAK POWER of your rowing stroke! Rowing is so technical, I know… but hopefully this helps you out a bit. Give the “leg push” thought a try today and let me know if you felt a difference in your rowing! . . . #row #rower #rowing #rowingmachine #cardio #otf #orangetheory #orangetheoryfitness #veganfitness #vegansofig #crossfit #crossfitgirls #crossfitwod
