Largest sunflower I’ve done so far and I’m so happy with it. Every time I do a sunflower I want it to feel different than the others. I didn’t initially intend on it being so much bigger but sometimes that’s just how the designs work end up. I added a new leaf shape in too and I really like how they turned out. I hand cut every piece and only colored the background, using Yellow Heart for the petals, Wenge for the center and Poplar for the stem and leaves. This piece is ready for its new home and I’ll be adding it to the website later today.

The warmer weather has me thinking it's spring, and I've finished the first piece of my "spring" collection (which will be released towards the end of February or early March) I kept these peonies pretty neutral, with just a bit of gold accent #scrollsawartist #scrollsawart #woodartist #maker #yxeartist

I love sunflowers and I honestly don’t get tired of making them. Even though I hand cut every piece, I still want every one that I make to feel different and unique. So each time I make a new one I challenge myself to do something with it that I didn’t before, I change the shape of the leaves or the overlap of the petals. There’s so much to the sunflowers that wouldn’t seem hard but is. You can even catch me put a nail through the face of the piece (because we nail from the back, the odd shapes in the center of the background can make it really difficult not to shoot through). Fortunately I was able to pull the nail with no damage to the front. I thought about cutting that from the video but I wanted to show that we all make mistakes and how hard this part can be. Also I wish this is how fast I could do this lol, this is sped up 4x 🤪 Watch to the end to catch my dance 💃
