Here’s my PERFECT Root Shadow technique. I call it “perfect” because it’s never once given me an awkward, horizontal line. Hope you try it! TAG ME if you do. PS. My favorite root shadow “color series” is Wella Color Touch /71 - which is brown, ash. @wellahairusa Perfect for cancelling any remaining warmth and blending into your guests natural color. . . . @wellaeducation #askforwella #ad #mastersofbalayage #mobboss #balayagemaster #ryanweeden #mobteam #milliondollarpiece #balayagemaster #paintyourfuture #lovegrowshare #rootshadow #rootshadowing

Root shadow turning patchy? Let’s be real… that’s not the technique – it’s your blending. 👀 Fear is your biggest enemy here. If you’re too careful, you’ll create harsh lines instead of a seamless melt. My game changer? The Blending Brush by @oliviagarden_eu 💗 It gives you that soft transition… like, dangerously soft 😅 This brush is with me at every appointment – no exceptions. Now tell me: What’s your root shadow vibe? Team Fear 😬 or Team Precision 🔥 #rootshadow #redken #redkeneducation BLOND BABYLIGHTS BALAYAGE AIRTOUCH ROOTSHADOW FRISEUR HAMBURG EDUCATION

Welcome back to another episode of mic’d up Monday I’m breaking down the process of a root shadow and sharing all the tips how I create the most seamless melt. Drop your questions below or slide in my DMs🫶 If you see me in the mirror with foils in my own head no you don’t #haireducation #rootshadowblonde

5️⃣ tips & tricks on how I root shadow 1️⃣ The technique required it: placement is everything right? Not every foil placement will be seamless without a root shadow. 2️⃣ Your client needs to go longer between appointments: the root shadow will make sure they get longevity between appointments. It’ll buff out any lines to have a seamless grow out. 3️⃣ When using #dialight - formulate at the same natural level: in my opinion Dialight will have more coverage the longer you leave it on. I left this on for 10 minutes & had the best end result! Mixing ratio is 1oz to 1.5oz 4️⃣ Apply in the same foil pattern: I always start right down the part & then move into my foil pattern. I feel that there’s less risk of missing a section. You can see where you placed the foils are you move thru the hair. 5️⃣ Leave the hairline for last: most clients want to be lighter around their face. If you leave it for last- it stays on the least. I don’t bring down the shadow as far either! BONUS: 6️⃣ PUT YOUR ROOT TAP ON AT THE CHAIR. You can see better - you’ll have a better end result! Your client will also see & understand why it’s a additional charge. #btcreelquickie #haireducation #rootshadow #rootedblonde #dimensionalblonde #lowmaintenancehair #brightblonde #livedinblonde #ittakesapro #blondeinspo

What is a shadow root? Maybe you’ve heard your hairstylist suggest it in the past but without a visual representation, it can be hard to picture it. In the last video, I explained and showed what a lowlight is on my lovely Janice. Now she’s feeling too stipe-y and wants to add a shadow root to blend in her natural hair color with her highlights. BUT FIRST, WHAT is a root shadow and WHO is it for? ⚡️I use a root shadow (aka root tap, root smudge) to literally “shadow” and blur the line of demarcation after I’ve done highlights. ⚡️Typically I root shadow everyone who gets highlights to soften the grow out. I WON’T do it if the client is adamant about remaining really really bright right from the roots. FORMULA DETAILS: ✖️I use a Demi permanent color ✖️I use a level that’s 1-2 levels darker than the highlight (or the same level for a very minor shadow!) ✖️I love mixing a cool and a neutral or warm tone together (this would be adjusted if someone had a TON of warmth after they were lifted) ✖️I love using @schwarzkopfusa Igora Vibrance and combining a -0 and a -1 or -19 or even a -4 for a smidge more warmth! If you want to see more about root shadowing, I have a few tutorials (plus the full length tutorial from the reel you just watched) about root shadowing on my education platform Blonde Chronicles University. Shadow root is a root design technique that can be applied to any bleach color What are the benefits of a shadow root? 1. Natural Transition * It creates a soft gradient between the bleached sections and your natural hair color. * Regrowth is less noticeable, making it look more natural over time. 2. Low Maintenance * You don’t need frequent touch-ups, as the natural root blends seamlessly with the rest of the hair. * Great for those who want a low-commitment blonde look. It’s a great way to achieve a bold yet low-maintenance style! #melbournehair #melbournehairdresser #shadowroot #shadowroots

3 Tips for a Seamless Root Shadow EVERY TIME 👇🏼 1. Include the cowlick: Pull your comb farther back to the crown to include the cowlick section. This will make sure that everything stays cohesive and eliminates any disconnect in the angled placement of the root shadow. 🙌🏻 2. Horizontal sections: While both vertical and horizontal sections work, I prefer horizontal because it keeps sections clean with no risk of color transfer. This allows me to see exactly where to shadow and drag for perfect cohesiveness!!! 3. Smudge with every section: As I apply the root shadow, I smudge with my wet brush (or Unbrush) after each section for a smooth blend. After letting the root shadow sit for about 5 minutes, I go back with my gloss and blend them both together. Perfect blend, every time!🫶🏻 Let me know what you’re struggling with when it comes to root shadowing, and let’s chat about it! #rootshadow #blondingtechniques #hairtutorial #beforeandafterhair #colormelt #balayagehighlights #seamlessrootshadow #hairtips #haircolorist #haireducation grand junction hairstylist blonding specialist

A root shadow isn’t a mistake, it’s a design choice. Root tapping elevates the color by adding depth, control, and a seamless blend that grows out beautifully instead of abruptly. No harsh lines. No flat blondes. Just intentional, dimensional hair that lasts longer between appointments. This is advanced color work, not over-processing, nor “fixing” color. #RootShadow #RootTap #DimensionalBlonde #BlondeSpecialist #HairColorTechnique ModernBlonde LivedInBlonde
