Here are some tips to lock in tension in the target muscle: ⭐️ Try to keep your torso as parallel to the ground as your body allows. Alternatively you can use a chest support. ⭐️ Hold the dumbbells with your thumbs down and pinkies up. ⭐️ Instead of trying to pull the dumbbells up with your hands, think of pulling them out by leading with your elbows. ⭐️ Don’t try to go heavy with this one! We are targeting a smaller muscle here and don’t want our other majour muscles doing the work for us. I’d suggest a lighter weight, controlled movement and slightly higher reps. Split Stance Contralateral Single Arm Reverse Fly We want to remind members heavy is relative to the movement so in reverse flyes, they might not be using a big dumbbell. Reverse flyes give us the unique position to really target the rear delts and challenge the shoulder stabilizers with a long lever. We do many movements with heavier load in the similar hinged position but with a short lever to target the rhomboids/lower traps, like high rows, high pulls… If members bend the elbow with a heavier weight, they are just shortening the lever and working some of the same muscles as a high row. Same goes when they move with momentum, they are initiating that with the rhomboids and they can’t stabilize at the top because then the momentum and load is too great for the rear delts.
