How many grams does each part of a sock actually need? 👀🧦 I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t weigh it. 😉 We all have those tiny leftover balls of yarn. Too precious to throw away. Too mysterious to know what they’re enough for. So I measured everything for you — using my Ruffle Socks as an example. For size 6–7 (8–9), per ONE sock: Ruffle cuff — 5 g (5 g) Heel — 4 g (5 g) Toe — 3 g (4 g) Total for contrasting parts: 12 g (14 g) Main body of the sock: 15 g (16 g) So yes — that “tiny” 10–15 g leftover? It’s not tiny. It’s a heel. Or a toe. Here’s a great tip for perfectly tensioning your colourwork knitting. By doing this, you’re making the yarn floats go around the outside of your needles and therefore they’re going to be looser and stretchier. So many ways to knit socks in the round, here's just two of the methods. I like using a long circular needle but a new method i've been trying lately is with the shorties. I have to change my knitting style but I've found that I don't mind using these. Watch out for video 2 with a few more ways of knitting your socks 😀
