While you don’t have to remove the skin, it can be easier for babies 🫑 Bell pepper is one of the most nutritious on-the-go snacks out there. Pair it with some hummus for protein and iron, and you’ll really be rocking. The details: 1️⃣ Bell peppers may be introduced as soon as baby is ready for solids. Not sure if baby is ready? See our website (link in bio, search “Readiness”). 2️⃣ Bell peppers can have up to three times the amount of vitamin C per gram than an orange—a nutrient essential for immune health, iron absorption, and much more. These peppers are also rich in vitamins A, B6, and E, as well as folate and fiber. 3️⃣ The firm, slippery texture of bell peppers can pose a choking risk. To reduce the risk, cook the peppers until soft and cut into age-appropriate sizes. 4️⃣ Allergies to bell pepper are not common, but have been reported. People who are allergic to latex or certain plant pollens may be also be allergic to bell pepper or experience Oral Allergy Syndrome By age: ➡️ 6-8 mos: Hand baby a cooked bell pepper half, with pith, seeds, skin, and stem removed. Alternatively, you can serve dips, sauces, and spreads made from roasted bell pepper. ➡️ 9-17 mos: Offer cooked bell peppers (outer skin and inner seeds and pith removed), either in large sections for biting and tearing practice or small, bite-size pieces. Alternatively, serve paper-thin slices of raw bell pepper (skin on or off). ➡️ 18 mos+: Offer cooked bell pepper (pith, seeds, and stem removed) in slices or bite-sized pieces, either on its own or in a dish. At this age, many toddlers are ready for larger sections of raw bell pepper—offer in slices or even a half pepper, with seeds and pith removed. 📲 For more foods, download the Solid Starts App. #SolidStarts #blw #babyledweaning #firstfoods #startingsolids #whatmybabyeats #6monthsold #5monthsold #mealideas

How to Introduce Bell Pepper (Capsicum) to Your Baby 🌶️👶

How to Introduce Bell Pepper (Capsicum) to Your Baby 🌶️👶 A lot of parents feel unsure about serving bell peppers when starting solids. They worry it’s too strong, too fibrous, or not suitable for babies. But here’s something most people don’t realize 👇 Bell peppers are incredibly nutritious. 💚They’re packed with: • Vitamin C (even more than many fruits) • Fiber for digestion • Antioxidants that support immunity And vitamin C is especially important because it helps improve iron absorption from other foods your baby eats. The good news? You don’t have to choose between finger foods or purées. It can absolutely be both! In this video my baby is 6.5 months old, and I’m showing two simple ways to introduce bell pepper: ✅ Steamed slices that pass the squish test (great for self-feeding as a finger food) ✅ Aloo shimla mirch (potato and bell pepper purée) for pre-loading a spoon or mixing into other foods Offering both textures helps babies learn how to chew, mash, and explore new flavors. Remember — starting solids isn’t about perfection. It’s about exposure, practice, and building confidence over time. How do you like to prepare red bell pepper to your little one? This is my favorite way - steam roasted! If you struggle with getting veggies perfectly cooked AND flavorful for your baby you NEED to try this! How it works: The hot oven and moisture from the veggies create steam (once covered) making them soft, but because they’re roasted, the flavors become more concentrated. And as you can see, it’s the perfect texture for babies! As for the seasonings, feel free to add as much or as little as you wish. You can absolutely use them from the very beginning! Babies LOVE flavor. If you’re hesitant or unsure, start out with small amount. Have fun experimenting! #blw #babymealprep #startingsolids #newmom #firstfoods #infantnutrition #babyledfeeding #firsttimemom #blw6months

Most people don’t realize this… (And before I elaborate, comment SPICY on this post to check out a new surprise I have for you guys…) Green bell peppers? They’re just unripe red, yellow, or orange peppers. They’re picked early, they’re harder to digest, and they’ve got more defenses… Ask yourself: Would you eat a green banana? That bitter, grassy taste? That’s what unripe plant defense chemicals taste like. But the ripened ones — red, orange, yellow — are way easier on the gut. And for everyone wondering: Peppers are actually a FRUIT, not a vegetable. Which brings me to something I’m super excited about… We just launched two new meat stick flavors at Lineage — and we did something no one else is doing. Comment SPICY to get a DM from me to check them out! 🔥 Spicy Southwest — made with deseeded, non-irradiated organic chilis 🧄 Garlic & Onion — real organic spices, clean flavor, no preservatives, ever 💪 64g+ protein per pack from grass-fed beef, liver & heart 🚫 Zero garbage We actually deseed the peppers… Who else is doing that?? Literally no one. . Proud of this one. Go try them. You’ll taste the difference.

Reply with “peppers” in the comments and I will send you where I get my seeds 🌶️ TOPPING PEPPERS — Topping or pruning the main stem of a pepper plant does more than just shape it. It actually changes how the plant grows. When you remove the top of the main stem, the plant redirects energy from vertical growth into lateral branches, giving it more sites for flowers and eventually fruit. At first, this can make the plant look weaker or slower. In my experiment, the unpruned plant grew taller and set fruit earlier because it focused all its energy on growing up. The topped plant seemed delayed at first, but by branching out from the base and middle nodes, it eventually created far more flowering sites. After about four months, the results were clear. The topped jalapeño produced 37 peppers, nearly three times more than the unpruned plant’s 15. This shows how a simple early prune can trade quick vertical growth for a bigger, more productive harvest. ⚠️ Caveat: Don’t prune if you have a short growing season, as topping slows the plant’s development too much. For large varieties like bell peppers, topping is not recommended because the yield increase isn’t significant enough to be worth the effort.
