Releasing the cervical fascia can help neck pain, upper back pain, trap tension, headaches, and even tech-neck stiffness. A little oil + a simple fork = one of the easiest ways to free up the tight tissue behind your neck. You’re basically gliding along the nerve pathways and fascia lines that get overloaded from sitting, stress, and bad sleep. When redness shows up, it’s just circulation increasing — that’s where people feel the biggest relief. Try it slow, try it gentle… your spine will thank you. #neckpain #upperbackpain #traprelease #fascia

As someone that always carries her stress in her upper traps, I literally had to try this exercise out when I saw it! & it did NOT disappoint! 🤯 You just have to set the bar to shoulder height then step under it and maintain downward pressure on the bar as you push your trap up into it!!!! The cool part is you can play with pressure & you can find different areas to dig around in! I personally like to move my head away from the trap I’m trying to target to work on lengthening the tissue & improving neck ROM simultaneously! For me, it works like a charm & maybe it will work for you too! Tag a friend that needs to try this with you! 👇🏻 & remember, if you suffer from chronic neck pain / tension, one exercise won’t fix all your problems, even if it helps temporarily! If you’re interested in a real fix, comment “chronic” and we will send you some info about our neck fix program which includes a comprehensive plan to keep that neck pain away for good! #tighttraps #uppertrap #neckpain #physio #stressrelief

Your upper traps feel tight, but they’re not just “tight”—they’re overworked and stuck in a constant state of tension. The trapezius is a massive muscle running from your neck down to your mid-back, with three main sections: upper, middle, and lower. The upper traps help elevate your shoulders, but when they take on too much work (often due to stress, poor posture, or imbalances), they stay in a constant state of contraction. That stiffness and tension in your neck and shoulders? It’s your body crying out for balance. Instead of just rolling them out or stretching aimlessly, use these monster band stretches to create space, improve mobility, and reset your traps the right way. Passive stretches you can use and relax will be one of the best way to relax these big muscles. Use the PNF technique to ramp up your release even more! #outlierathlete #movement #mobility #fitness #stretch #posture #traprelease #passivestretch

You can do this one in the car! Well that is if you aren’t the one driving HA! You can place a ball on the wall or ground if you want a more intense pressure. Do for 30-60 seconds and put in a few different spots on your traps. Try to relieve those headaches or that intense trap tension. Hope you have a an actual day off for Labor Day! Enjoy, relax take a break and if you borrow your dogs ball maybe give them some love or a treat in exchange Hehe Besos, Coach Jos #laborday #takeabreak #giveback #toyourself #selflove #traprelease #trappain #backpain #neckpain #headache #relax #mobility

🔵 The Upper Traps are notoriously achy but you can work on them yourself with your foam roller! This move is nuanced and takes practice, but it’s totally worth it. ✅ Try it without lifting the hips first, then, for a deeper release, lift the hips. 👉 Be sure to use a soft or moderate density roller, like our PRO-ROLLER Soft or PRO-ROLLER (shown here by @release_technique ) #selfcare #wellness #massage #pt #neckpain #neckpainrelief #shoulderpain #optpproducts #optp #uppertraps #traprelease #myofascialrelease #foamroller #foamrolling #physio #physiotherapist #physicaltherapy #physicaltherapist #selfmassage

6 best Easy & Effective Trapezius release techniques. 1.Upper Trap Manual Release • Pinch the tight upper trap between your fingers. • Apply slow, steady pressure into the muscle. • Add gentle neck movements (side-bend/rotate) to deepen the release. • Great for: desk posture, neck stiffness, headaches. 2. Trigger-Point Release • Find the tender “knot” in the trap. • Apply firm pressure (thumb, knuckle, or elbow). • Hold 30–60 sec until it softens or the pain reduces. • Helps reduce referred pain to neck/temple area. 3. Middle Trap Release • Use thumbs/forearm along the area between the scapula and spine. • Apply cross-fiber friction (small strokes across the muscle). • Combine with scapular retraction to improve mobility. • Great for mid-back tightness or weak scapular control. 4. Lower Trap Release • Apply deeper pressure along the fibres near T6–T12. • Mobilize the scapula up/down while maintaining pressure. • Helps activate and free the lower traps without overusing upper traps. • Useful for posture correction and overhead control. 5. Myofascial Release (MFR) • Use broad contact (palm/forearm). • Apply gentle tension and stretch the fascia slowly. • Hold 30–90 sec until the tissue “melts.” • Best for chronic stiffness and postural tightness. 6. IASTM (Instrument-Assisted Release) • Use a tool (scraper/Graston) at a shallow angle. • Glide over tight fibres with slow, controlled strokes. • Helps break down adhesions and stimulate blood flow. • Great for stubborn, deeper tension. ⚠️ Disclaimer: This post is for educational purposes only and is meant to guide physiotherapy students and professionals in understanding assessment and management approaches. That knot between your neck and shoulder? Your traps are SCREAMING for help 🎯 Your trapezius muscles hold onto stress like it’s their job—because literally, it is. Hours hunched over screens, poor posture, and daily stress turn these muscles into tension fortresses. Here’s why releasing your traps is non-negotiable: The breakdown: Tight traps restrict blood flow, limit shoulder mobility, trigger headaches, and create that constant “carrying the weight of the world” feeling. Left unchecked, this tension cascades down your entire posterior chain, affecting your lifting form, recovery, and daily comfort. The barbell massage hack: This simple self-myofascial release technique helps break up adhesions, increase circulation, and restore range of motion. Think of it as a reset button for your upper body. Real talk: You can’t out-train chronic tension. Recovery isn’t optional—it’s where the magic happens. 2-3 minutes of trap release can improve your next workout, reduce injury risk, and honestly, just make life feel better. Your body is your most important piece of equipment. Treat it accordingly 💪🏽 Love you all #rngfitness

Learn MORE here⬇️ This resisted lateral flexion exercise is an active way to help release the tension in those upper traps! By holding onto a band & created a gentle pull you create tension. The shrug contracts the muscle, the lateral tilt starts to lengthen it, & when you slowly drop your shoulder it lengthens the muscle under tension creating more of a stretch than just simply tilting your head to the side! If you are looking for a BETTER neck stretch to help RELEASE the tension around your neck, please give this exercise a try! Start with 4-6x each side and hold for 5-10sec at a time! Always listen to your body & never push into pain! Happy MOVING!
