Ever wondered what it’s like to have ADHD? 🤔 Imagine this: You’re at a busy café, trying to chat with a friend. ☕️ But instead of focusing on their words, your brain is picking up EVERYTHING. The clinking cups. The barista calling out orders. The laughter from the next table. Someone’s phone buzzing. The music in the background. 🎶 You *want* to listen, but your mind keeps jumping from sound to sound. Suddenly, you’re not just hearing your friend—you’re hearing EVERYONE. It’s like your brain has 100 browser tabs open and you can’t find the right one. 😵‍💫 This is what it can feel like to have ADHD in a crowded place. Overwhelming, right? You’re not ignoring anyone on purpose. Your brain just works differently, and sometimes it’s hard to filter out all the noise. 🧠✨ If you’ve ever felt this way, you’re not alone! Let’s spread some understanding and kindness for those with ADHD. 💛 Tag a friend who gets it, or share this to help others understand what ADHD can really feel like! 👇 #ADHDAwareness #Neurodiversity #UnderstandingADHD

Unlocking the Secrets of ADHD 💛 Imagine having a conversation that changes your perspective on ADHD forever. Hasan Minhaj’s interaction with Dr. Gabor Maté reveals a powerful insight: ”Kids don’t have a time sense. To a baby, a present moment is eternity.” This quote reminds us that our brain development is shaped by our early experiences. Dr. Maté’s conversation with Hasan Minhaj highlights the importance of understanding the root causes of ADHD. According to Dr. Maté, ADHD is not just a genetic disorder, but rather a response to adverse experiences in early childhood. Stressful environments can interfere with brain development, particularly in genetically sensitive infants. This understanding can help us approach ADHD with more empathy and compassion. Research shows that childhood environments shape brain development and behavior later in life. Dr. Maté’s book, Scattered Minds, explores this connection and offers insights into managing ADHD symptoms. By recognizing the role of trauma and stress in ADHD, we can work towards more effective interventions. Let’s break the stigma surrounding ADHD and other conditions. Dr. Maté emphasizes the importance of self-compassion and understanding. By acknowledging that our struggles are rooted in our life experiences, we can begin to shift our perspectives and foster healing. Share your thoughts! ADHD is a complex, neurodevelopmental condition that runs far deeper than a quirky personality trait, or getting distracted easily. First of all I'd like to make clear that this reel isn’t about gatekeeping or attacking anyone! It’s purely about highlighting the very real, often invisible struggles that people with ADHD face every day. For many of us, ADHD means emotional dysregulation, executive dysfunction, paralysis, burnout and a lifetime of “not living up to your potential” and not knowing why. The “fun and bouncy” version of ADHD can be valid for some, especially in children or in certain presentations, but reducing ADHD to a stereotype makes it harder for others to be taken seriously, access support or get a diagnosis. I want to keep normalising the full picture without minimising anyone’s experience. Whether you’re diagnosed, self-identifying, or supporting someone with ADHD, you’re welcome here! This is a safe space where I regularly remind us all of the nuance that comes with ADHD, and where I aim to keep it real. #adhdawareness #neurodiversity #realadhd #adhdsupport #mentalhealthmatters #executivedysfunction #adhdinadults #adhdeducation #neurodivergentvoices #adhdreality #emotionalregulation #adhdacceptance #adhdtherapist #therapistwithadhd #talkingtherapy
