A retwist is not ment to be kept in for a whole month. That causes your locs to thin. A retwist does not loc hair. Shampooing does. The purpose of a retwist is to maintain your parts and keep the loc in a cylindrical shape. Retwisting is not relocking. Hair locs naturally. The locking process is natural or triggered by crotcheting. Interlocked hair doesn't quite loc. It's the easiest to comb out. Try it. Shampoo your locs in between your visits. Don't skip your monthly visit. Hair breaks of after being left unattended for 4 months. But if Shampooed, it mats up though in different shapes and sizes uncontrollably. That is why you go to your loc care giver. A retwistician can do this with eyes closed. You should learn how to do it yourself. No products needed. Products do not loc hair or even help to facilitate the locking process. I know my knowledge is not common. But then again I'm the OG. I speak from experience and deep research. Peace out

Shampoo Regularly 🌱 Wash your locs every 1-2 weeks to prevent buildup. Your Loctician shouldn’t be the only one cleaning your locs—just like you wouldn’t go weeks without washing your body, your locs deserve the same care. Moisturize 🌱 Keep your locs hydrated with natural oils like jojoba. Apply oil to the scalp and use rose water to mist the locs themselves for a refreshing boost. Monthly Routine 🌱 Can’t make it to your Loctician every 4-8 weeks? Keep your locs separated until then or try a DIY retwist at home to maintain neatness. Protect 🌱 Sleep on a satin pillowcase or wear a satin scarf to reduce frizz and prevent lint buildup in your locs. This simple step goes a long way in keeping your locs fresh. Avoid Product Buildup 🌱 Choose lightweight, water-based products instead of heavy wax-based ones to maintain healthy locs. Keep things simple with light conditioners and products designed for loc care. For more tips, follow @princess_styles6! another 3️⃣0️⃣second “tips & tricks” tutorial: [crochet maintenance]🪡 guys I honestly thought twice about even posting this because it really over-simplifies something that I could spend hourssssss talking about and demonstrating... so take it for what it is.🤷🏼♀️ Like I said in the video, there are MANY right ways to crochet (I think this is the most obvious way for a beginner), but really the only WRONG way is if you’re too aggressive/breaking hair/over-tightening.❌ So be slow, gentle and deliberate if you’re just starting out!⚠️ It’s not rocket science but it definitely takes practice!🚀✨ . . . #dreadtutorial #tipsandtricks #howtomakedreads #dreadmaintenance #crochetdreads #crochetmaintenance #dreadhowto #dreadcare #loctician #dreadlockartist #professionaldreads #cleandreads #diydreads #diyhair #hairgoals #dreadlocks #nhdreads #lizkidderstudio

Oil according to what your hair needs, not according to someone else’s routine. If you’re oiling everyday I hope you are washing every few days. Blocking your hair follicles can increase flaking, dandruff and buildup. It can also stunt hair growth and feed bacteria 🦠 Follow @afialocs for Appointments, Consultations and Content . . . . #locs #locstyles #explorepage #loctician #loclivin #retwist #dreadlocs #locmaintenance #locsrhodeisland #locjourney #rhodeislandloctician #detoxlocs #iocretwist #twostrandtwist #retwistlocs #menlocs #womenlocstyles #rhodeislandlocs #loctips #retwistdreads #rhodeislandlocextensions #locstylist #locstyle #locspiration #locsforlife #pawtucket #locretwistandstyle #centralfalls #centralfallsri #providencerhodeisland

A morning loc routine typically involves hydrating, oiling, and brushing the locs to maintain their health and appearance. ⚠️Just a reminder that putting oil on your dry hair is NOT moisturizing it💯 🎥: @viiral.vt #fyp #trending #locs #locmaintenance #locjourney #locs #explore #explorepage #reels #viral

I was spraying because yes, I was avoiding shampooing at night. I shampoo my locs after I crochet the roots. And yes I know now when you look at it, it doesn't look done. That is how I like my locs: looking natural and effortless. It is also easier to maintain. Never spray your locs with water daily. That idea was started by spray water sellers. Spraying water does not add moisture to your locs. Hair absorbs water through osmosis. That requires a long exposure time. Meaning, a shampoo session or /and a steaming session. If you are not doing eith frequently, you are not adding moisture to your locs. Even just Spraying water on your car doesn't make it clean. Think about that. Shampoo your locs weekly. If you can, 2 times weekly, you will have sufficient moisture in your locs. Never oil dirty hair. That causes build up and attracts lint. Peace Out

🌱Detoxing your locs is excellent for getting rid of product residue build-up. 🌱It helps prevent the growth of mold and mildew in your locs 🌱The apple cider vinegar in the loc rinse is excellent for combating split ends and taming frizzy hair. 🌱It improves the overall appearance of your ✅🤗 #locmantiance #locjourney #brownlocs #longlocs #detroitlocs #southfieldlocs #southfieldloctician #detroitlocstylist #menwithlocs #locswithtexture #locsgang #locnation #locjourney #detoxlocs #detoxingloxs #deepclean #locdetox #applecidervinegar #bakingsoda #Avcrinse #bookwithme #explorepage

Part 2: educational purposes The “stuff” in the middle of a dreadlock is usually a mix of shed hair, natural oils, lint, and product buildup. Here’s why it happens: 1. Shed Hair – Everyone loses hair daily, but in locs, the shed strands stay trapped inside rather than falling out. Over time, they create density in the middle. 2. Product Buildup – Heavy creams, waxes, and gels can accumulate inside the locs, making them feel dense or stiff. This is why lightweight, residue-free products are recommended. 3. Lint & Debris – Fabrics, pillowcases, and even the air can introduce tiny particles that get caught in locs, especially if they aren’t covered at night. 4. Compressed Hair – As locs mature, the hair tightens and compacts, which can make the middle feel different from the outside. 5. Trapped Moisture – If locs aren’t dried properly after washing, moisture can get trapped inside, leading to mildew or buildup. To keep locs clean and healthy, regular washing, detoxing, and light products can help. If you notice excessive buildup, an apple cider vinegar rinse or a baking soda soak can help deep clean ——————————————————————————————-#wicks#bonks #locs #locstyles #locstylesforkids #bonks #dreadjourney #dreadhead #locstyles #locstylesforwomen #locsjourney #dreadslocks #locstyles #locs4life #locrepair #goddesslocs #softlocs #locspecialist #locschicago #locstylesformen #locsforwomen #locnation #dreadhead #hairtransformation #hairstyles #hairfashion #hairart #hairlove#atlhair #atlhairstylist #chicagohairstylist #chicagohair #newyorkhairstylist
