Spoiler Alert: You can easily get the look of patchwork quilting without the headache of matching up your seams!! I’m going to show you how! Lay your squares out in even rows onto lightweight, fusible interfacing. Press with a hot iron. Then fold your first row RST and sew using a 1/4” seam allowance. Press all seams to go the same direction. Then snip to the seam at each intersection but do not snip into your sewing! Fold your other rows of squares RST and sew! Patchwork but make it ✨fast✨ Using lightweight fusible interfacing to piece this panel instead of pinning every seam… game changer! Have you ever tried this method before or do you piece the traditional way? 👀

The easy way to do perfect patchwork! 1. Start with a big piece of fusible interfacing (I like Pellon SF101). 2. Place squares on the fusible side. 3. Iron to fuse the squares to the interfacing. 4. Fold down one row and sew a 1/4" seam. 5. Repeat for the remaining rows. 6. Make a small snip at the intersection of the seam and each column (be careful to not cut into the thread from the seam!) 7. Iron seams in alternating directions to allow seams to nest. 8. Fold down the first column. Sew with a 1/4" seam. 9. Repeat until all columns are sewn. 10. Press in one direction. The interfacing gives the patchwork panel added structure that's perfect for pouches!! 🌟 Scrappy Nine patch quilt block tutorial!🌟 These tiny scrappy blocks are super quick and easy to make. Mine measure just 3 inches when finished, so each square will measure 1 inch. A few people have been asking how I make them, so here you go! I'm making mine as part of the #tinyninepatchchallenge hosted by @reproquiltlover There are lots of different ways to make these blocks. Some people are cutting each square individually, which is also totally fine. Some people are using the same background fabric throughout or using two different colours and no low volume for some of their blocks. I may throw some odd blocks in there towards the end to add some points of interest, depending on how it's looking. Details: ✨️ You always ask, so first of all...my iron is an Ansio mini steam iron, and my wool pressing mat is from Amazon! 😆 ✨️ My strips are cut at 10" x 1 ½", although some early ones were cut from scraps, so there were lots of different lengths there. ✨️ To make them lovely and scrappy, it helps to have lots of different styles of fabric for contrast. ✨️ The three strip units should be alternating, light and dark. ✨️ Nesting seams is where the seam allowance sits in opposite directions, so when you press your pieces together and match the seams, the edges butt up against each other. ✨️ Once you've made lots of units, you can cut strips off as and when you need them and mix them with other sets. I also combine my colours a bit, so I've matched my aquas with the mints and teals so all the blocks look even more individual and scrappy! ✨️ I'm using a Janome Memory Craft 8200 QCP. I hope that all makes sense! Oh goodness after countless years of crafting I've now definitely found MY thing! Have you ever heard or tried "quilt as you go"? I only found out about this technique recently and I'm already completely obsessed and planning to make pouches,bags, purses etc 🥰 I especially love the "crumbs or scrappy quilt as you go" as it doesn't require too much precision (differently from traditional patchwork) and it allows me to use all those hundreds of fabric remnants, scraps and off cuts from previous projects 🩷 not a tutorial (I've just started so not the best person to be teaching really!) but sharing a little bit of how fun it is! • Ecco, dopo anni e anni di creatività ora ho trovato proprio la cosa PERFETTA per me! In honor of Earth Day (April 22), I reached for my scrap bins to create a pouch entirely from leftover pieces from other projects. It was so fun to see these colorful fabrics again and remember the projects I previously made with them. I used my favorite method for piecing small, patchwork pieces (if you've been around awhile, you've seen me do this before). By adhering the squares to fusible interfacing (Pellon SF101) then sewing seams for the rows and columns, it speeds up the process AND you end up with perfect points. Every.
