We’ve shared this trick to joining binding before, but it’s so good that we wanted to show you again! This is our favorite method for continuous binding, because it works perfectly every time, no matter what width you’re using. … 1. Cut a small piece of binding off one end. 2. Unfold that piece and use the width as a measuring guide between the two strips 3. Create the overlap by trimming each binding end on opposite sides of the guide. 4. Pin ends together on a 90 degree angle. This step can be a little tricky, so make sure to be careful here. 5. Sew ends together from corner to corner. 6. MOST IMPORTANT: check that the binding lays flat! Occasionally you’ll get twisted up, in which case it’s easy to rip it out and redo at this point. 7. Trim ends, press seam, and sew down to quilt. … Any questions? Leave us a comment! … #quiltbinding #quiltbindingtutorial #quilting #theclothparcel #quiltingtips #quiltingtutorial

Do you have a quilt ready and waiting for binding? Let's get it finished before the end of the year! Machine binding is a quick and secure way to finish your quilts! Let me show you how to do it! 🪡This is the final part of my 3 part series on how to finish a quilt. See my previous reels for the other parts. This last part that covers binding has been broken into two sections: creating binding and attaching binding. For detailed steps for all the parts, visit my blog! Let's do this! 🙌🏼 On the back of the quilt, line up the binding with the edge of the quilt, raw edges together. Leaving a 10"-12" tail on the end, sew the binding to the quilt. Backstitch when you get 1/4" away from the corner and cut threads. Fold the binding over on itself so it makes a 90° angle and hangs to the right. Finger press that fold and hold it while you then flip the binding from the right to the left. Hold it tight while you turn the quilt and start sewing just inside the edge. Continue to attach the binding to each side in the same way. Go around the quilt, stopping about 12" from where you began. Take your two ends and fold each end back on itself so that there is 1/4" gap in between. On the left side, trim the binding directly on that fold. Open up the piece that you cut off and lay it along the top of your folded back binding on the right and trim. *Be careful not to trim through the lower layer of binding! Open the binding and sew the two ends of binding together on the diagonal. Then stitch down the rest of the binding to the edge of the quilt. Fold your binding to the front and topstitch close to the binding edge. At the corner, stop and fold the new side of the binding up to the front. Slowly stitch it down. Continue in this way all around the quilt. When you reach the starting place, stitch over the beginning few stitches and backstitch. Cut your threads and you are finished! 👉🏼Save this reel for future reference and share with a friend who could use it! 🩷 #quiltingtips #quiltersofinstagram #quilting #finishingaquilt #quiltbinding #howtobindaquilt #quilter #igquiltcommunity #quiltbindingtutorial #astitchisastitchpatterns #astitchisastitch

The ONLY way to finish binding.. in my opinion 😉 Leave 4”-5” tails at the beginning & ending of your binding. Fold diagonally away from each other and make a mark with your fingers. Pin the marks together. Be sure to backstitch as you sew following your mark, press, trim and finish sewing down with your machine Then do you hand or machine finish the front side down?! I used to hand sew the back of all my binding…until I learned this method! While I do still love the look and process of hand sewing (hello cozy nights on the couch!), this has become my main method of attaching binding. Quick, easy and a clean finish! Say goodbye to wavy, puckered binding forever! These 3 genius techniques will give you perfect binding EVERY time. 1. ✨ Press your binding strip in half BEFORE cutting it for a perfect memory fold 2. 📎 Use binding clips instead of pins to prevent distortion 3. ✂️ Clip corners at 45° angles to reduce bulk I've used all these techniques on our brand new Arbor skirt pattern! It features a beautifully bound waistband that looks completely professional. Want to level up your binding skills? No one has to know. Except that it really isn’t that serious, and whatever it takes to get it done is a win in my book! The details 👇🏼 🪡 I use a 2 1/2” wide binding strip 🧵 Fold over the lead end of binding 1/4”. 🪡 Open the binding strip and sew down 1 1/2” - 2” or so. 🧵 Re- fold the binding strip and sew down as normal, starting approximately 1 1/4” or so from the folded edge. 🪡 When you get back to the beginning of the binding, overlap the ends by an inch or so. Trim off any extra binding. Tuck the loose end of the binding inside the front end of the binding. Make sure it’s flat and sew it the rest of the way. 🧵 Bring the binding to the back of the project, keeping the ends straight. Sew down the binding from the front of the project, catching the binding on the back. Fold the corners as you approach them so they are nice and mitered. That’s my quick and dirty way to add binding. Do you have any questions? I know this method isn’t for everyone, and it’s not even for every project, but sometimes it’s just the right thing! Save this for your next binding session!

This is my very easy method to join binding ends. No need for any special tools or needing to cut and waste a piece of the binding to measure the width. Cutting the end slightly shorter removes any slack and the binding will be nice and flat when sewn Try this when you bind your next project! #quiltbindingeasy #quiltbinding #quiltbindinghack
